FLARES is the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Young Academy. Like everything you’ll experience at this exceptional school, we are an unconventional PTO, which is reflected in our fiery name — FLARES.
F — Finest
L — Learning
A — Association
R — Representing
E — Educated
S — Scholars
We welcome every Young Academy family, including extended family members, to participate in FLARES. Membership is open to all and participation is encouraged to enjoy a full and rich Young Academy experience. The group meets monthly to discuss upcoming events, finances, and school needs where FLARES could be of assistance.
The cost of an annual FLARES membership is $50 per family each year. Dues can be paid online using the button below or by dropping off payment in the main office. Your FLARES dues provide helpful resources for the school, teachers, and special events.
As an added benefit, the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) now gives Parent Affiliate Memberships to our FLARES members. This free membership offers a great opportunity to learn more about how TAGT helps our scholars and how partnering with the organization benefits our school. You can also purchase a TAGT parent membership independently.
Want to stay in the loop? FLARES holds monthly meetings the first Friday of the month at Young Academy. We also hold a few evenings meetings throughout the year to accommodate parent schedules. FLARES meetings are a great way to maximize your PTO membership and learn the latest about Young Academy events, activities, and opportunities. The campus calendar includes meeting dates, so be sure to check it regularly.
