Amy Klein joins the Firehawk family as Health Promotion faculty with a special focus on yoga. Mrs. Klein began teaching yoga in 2006 after completing numerous yoga teacher trainings with YogaFit®. She also completed her 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification in October 2014 and is registered with Yoga Alliance. She has taught classes to students ranging in age from 9 to 100 years old, and has worked with gifted children, seniors, adults with multiple sclerosis, and teens and adults with cognitive impairments. She previously taught yoga and was a substitute lower elementary classroom guide (teacher) for three years in a Montessori environment.

Mrs. Klein is the owner of Santosha Yoga of Texas, where she has partnered with a gym and martial arts dojo to offer studio yoga classes in Keller. She is also an instructor at the Southlake Senior Center. Previously, she worked as a Group Exercise Director and yoga instructor for Griffin Fitness. She also has taught at numerous other fitness facilities. Prior to teaching yoga, Mrs. Klein worked as a Human Resources Specialist for Burlington North Santa Fe Railway.

Mrs. Klein attended Texas Christian University where she earned both a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Psychology, specializing in Cognitive Experimental Psychology. Her Master’s thesis research involved examining the development of spatial perspective-taking in children. In addition, Mrs. Klein is passionate about continuing her education about social and emotional needs of gifted and twice exceptional (2E’s) children. She has also participated in SENG and is a parent member of TAGT.

When she’s not busy teaching yoga, Mrs. Klein enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and their Golden Retriever. Although she’s lived in Texas most of her life, her favorite places to relax are the mountains of Colorado and the beaches of Florida and the Caribbean. She also enjoys cheering on the TCU Horned Frogs!
