Lower School STEM & Humanities
Mimi Turbeville is excited to join the E.A. Young Lower School faculty team for the 2015-2016 academic year. Mrs. Turbeville holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas, Arlington. Her teaching career began in Dallas ISD where she taught fifth grade in an ESL classroom. Her husband’s job then transferred her to sunny California where she was hired to create a pullout program for Gifted and Talented upper elementary students. She later taught a 3rd/4th grade combination ESL classroom in central California.
When her family moved back to Texas, she took a break from teaching to enjoy the role of being a mom. Mrs. Turbeville spent the last 12 years as a substitute teacher, kindergarten aide and 1st grade teacher creating a rich, inquiry based environment for her learners. When a colleague told about an innovative private school catering specifically to gifted learners, her interest was piqued. From the moment she saw E.A. Young scholars in action, she knew this was the place for her!
Mrs. Turbeville has been married for 23 years and lives in Keller with her husband and their four children. She enjoys traveling, hiking, fishing and anything outdoors.
